Course Objective

The course will give trainees an introduction to the theory and practice of language teaching. It provides an insight into the challenges facing the student and the role of the language teacher. Trainee may choose to specialise either English as a Second Language or Mandarin as a Second Language.

Course Outline

The five-module program covers the following topics:

1.    Language theory: The nature of language and its acquisition, language teaching principles and methodology,
2.    Language teaching methodology: Teaching language skills, teaching materials and aids,
3.    Language and language teaching: Phonetics and phonology, grammar, morphology and syntax,
4.    Classroom Planning and Organization: The syllabus, teacher’s role, different types of learners, organizing the class, lesson planning,
5.    Teaching practices: One of students’ specialization in English Language studies, Chinese Language Studies and Children’s Enrichment (4 to 12 years old)

Course Objective

The main aim of the ITEC Level 3 Certificate in Sports Massage Therapy is to enable learners to gain the practical and theoretical skills necessary to provide Sports Massage Therapy. It has been designed to provide learners with the requisite knowledge, understanding and skills to work in an unsupervised capacity as a sports massage practitioner, with non-pathological (non-injured) tissue. In this qualification learners will develop their knowledge and understanding of the theory underpinning the practise of Sports Massage Therapy, including functional anatomy and physiology, nutrition, classification of sports injuries and the stages of healing. It will also provide learners with the understanding, skills and techniques to plan, prepare for and apply a range of sports massage methods to uninjured clients. Learners will also develop the skills to evaluate massage strategies and methods to inform on future treatments.

COURSE OBJECTIVE

On completion of this unit, learner will have the knowledge and application skills in providing manicure & pedicure and be able to apply them at the workplace.
This unit is within the competency category of Beauty Therapy and is one of the modules leading to the CET certificates.
 
COURSE OUTLINES
1. Carry out pre-treatment activities-personal grooming / hygiene, infection & preventive care;
 
2. Consult with client-basic knowledge of Manicure & Pedicure eg. A&P of skin and nail, structure of nail, function & growth of nail; types of contraindications - common skin and nail condition
 
3. Perform Manicure & Pedicure - products, equipment & tools used in manicure & pedicure; manicure & pedicure techniques and procedures; importance and purpose of hand & foot massage; client's comfort & modesty; client feedback
 
4. Carry out post-treatment activities - importance of giving after care advice
 
5. Five competency elements of providing Manicure & Pedicure

ImageExercise plays an important role in the prevention and treatment of stress-related disorders. As stated in TCM; Thought will hurt Spleen Qi, and excessive exercises will hurt the tendon. By stressing on movements, they provide a comprehensive system of exercises for people of all ages, toning up muscles, enhances the flexibility of the joints, fortifies the nerves, and stimulating the flow of qi throughout the body. Each Exercise routine is described step-by-step in the module and demonstrated by suitably qualified certified physicians. The exercises in this module will not include Qigong, Meditation or strenuous exercises.  Instead it covers traditional therapeutic exercises such as:-
